Between 5th and 10th of May we got together for the next Project meeting. This time our destination was Sivas in central Turkey. It is a large city, where modern architecture is mixed with the souvenirs of old times, as the history of settlement in this region started 4,5 thousand years ago.

On the first day of our stay, we visited the school, where we had the chance to watch performances by local students, who prepared some local folk songs and dance show for us. Then, at the project meeting all partners discussed School Systems in their countries. We also watched and presented lives and work of the most important national writers. Art teachers prepared a workshop, where we could learn Turkish way of making pictures called Ebru- which is like painting on water.

On Wednesday, we had a walking tour around the city. We admired some modern works of architecture and buildings which date back to the 13th and 14th centuries. We also saw the remains of the oldest times in Anatolian Civilization Museum. We visited a traditionally furnished and decorated Turkish house and a Mosque. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to do some shopping at a typical market place, where stalls were full of fruit, seeds and nuts.

An unexpected attraction was a visit to the Sivasspor football club. We watched the footballers at training session and after that we had the chance to meet a famous footballer, Roberto Carlos. He appeared to be a very friendly person. He let us take some photos with him and he gave a lot of autographs.

On Thursday, we had a trip to Kangal and Darende. Here, we had the chance to try treatment performed by “Doctor Fish”, which heal all skin diseases by “eating” faulty parts of skin, softened with water. Later we visited a worldwide famous “Kangal Dogs” farm and we travelled on to the Gokpinar Lake. We admired beautiful mountain landscapes and the unbelievably blue bottom of the lake, which is really a wonder of natural world.

On our last day in Sivas, we went to see the Teacher Training High School. We experienced a really modern way of teaching and using the newest technology as a teaching aid. After a walk around the school we got together to get our certificates and discuss the next project meeting in Patras, Greece. In the afternoon, we had a rest in a beautiful park, where we also ate typical Turkish lunch. Later, we had some free time to buy souvenirs. Then the farewell dinner and… see you in Greece!
